Darrell Leong

Darrell Leong joined First Citizens Innovation Banking as a managing director in 2021. He is the head of Investment Research for First Citizens Innovation Banking Asset Management and is responsible for leading a team of analysts and overseeing the research process that includes the corporate bond, asset-backed securities and sovereign debt sectors.

Darrell has 17 years of investing experience in the asset management industry. Before joining First Citizens Innovation Banking, Darrell was a director at Wells Fargo, where he managed bond portfolios for the firm’s investment portfolio. Prior to that, he was a senior analyst focused on credit and equity investments for Overland Advisors, a multi-strategy hedge fund. Darrell has also worked in the tech sector as a business development manager for Oracle and an investment banking analyst with Lehman Brothers.

As a creative problem solver, Darrell finds inspiration in leveraging new approaches and technologies to provide clients with excellent service. He relishes the opportunity to help grow First Citizens Innovation Banking, mentor talent and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.

Darrell holds a BA in business economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is a chartered financial analyst charterholder. Darrell is a Bay Area native residing in San Francisco.
