Mark Lau

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mark Lau manages First Citizens Fund Banking’s venture capital firm relationships nationwide. He and his team provide banking services and debt financing for these firms and their funds, based on a deep understanding of their needs.

Mark has spent his 30+ year career in finance and the venture capital industry, primarily lending to venture-backed companies at Silicon Valley Bank and GATX Ventures, prior to his current role of leading the bank’s efforts in banking venture capital firms. Prior to his lending and banking roles, Mark was also provided consulting services at KPMG, helping multinational banks with M&A and portfolio valuation services. He started his career in finance in San Francisco as a bank examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of the Currency.

Mark earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from San Diego State University. He’s served on the board of Habitat for Humanity – East Bay, served on the Investment Committee for the Diocese of Oakland, and is a former board member of venture-backed start-up, Aumni, through their eventual acquisition by JPMorgan.
