Instant Payments FAQs

An instant payment is an electronic credit transfer between financial institutions that can be initiated and settled almost immediately. Businesses can send or receive instant payments 24/7/365 using a service like the Real-Time Payment (RTP) network.

To receive instant payments, your customer (or other payer) initiates the money transfer to your business checking account. Unlike ACH where you can pull payment by debiting a payer’s account, with the RTP network payers must initiate the credit transfer.

Real-time payment networks provide maximum flexibility to send payments 24/7/365. No more having to plan around banking business hours, weekends or holidays. Recipients receive funds immediately in their bank account, and senders receive confirmation with detailed transaction data for easier reconciliation.
